Registration for this program begins on Wednesday, March 18th 2026.We are excited to  bring back our popular preschool summer program: Mini Stars! Our qualified director will lead this group of little ones in arts and crafts, games, water play and circle time in a way that will enhance social skills, allow children to work on decision making, fine and gross motor skills, following directions and engaging with a peer group. NOTES:-Options are for a 2 or 3 day spot, sessions are in 2 week blocks.-This program is based out of the Billerica Recreation Department (248 Boston Rd), but the first Thursday/Friday of every session we will meet at the Manning State Park Picnic Pavilion (39 Chelmsford Rd)! Wear your bathing suit to the program on these special days, as we will be setting aside time to use the splash pad! -We also encourage you to pack bug spray!-Each child should bring a nut-free snack and lunch, and water bottle daily. -Children must be potty trained.*No program July 3rdPayment FlexibilityTo assist financially, families have the option to pay a 50% (or higher) deposit at the time of their registration. Hike “Up North” with Marlies Henderson. More physically intense than her Billerica winter walks, but if there is a demand, the Recreation Department can meet it: We will drive you to and from the destination, and you hike 4 to 6 miles in the White Mountains and surrounding areas. Focus on camaraderie and reaching summits. 50% rain, 50 mph wind and thunder and lightning cancel. Included: Reminder, gear advise, transportation, gas, planning & coordination, guide.Not included: Food and beverage.

Leisure Adventure Club includes social activities and community outings for older teens and adults. This program is designed specifically to accommodate those with cognitive and developmental impairments. Programs are led by qualified Billerica Recreation staff members. Staff to participant ratio will not exceed 1:6.An intake assessment and conversation with our TR Coordinator is required prior to initial participation.Summer 2026 LAC Programs: Registration will start on 4/22 at 10:00amSand Sculptures & Ice Cream at Hampton Beach, $30Sunday 6/21/28 1:00pm-5:30pmLet’s head up to Hampton Beach to view the sand sculptures from their annual competition. You may bring your own money for purchases at shops. We will be stopping at Hodgie’s on the way home for a provided cup of ice cream. Circuit Makers 101Let’s get creative with electricity! In this junior electronics class, students will gain experience with creating their own electronics, designing custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class day consists of circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project, using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Circuit Lab staff will make sure participants create a project that they can be proud of each day. Most class days include a take-home project.

Understanding how software can interact with robots is a key skill for the STEM jobs of tomorrow. In this class we provide several active, playful activities, where students learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, students will turn Spher SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light/ Green Light games, and the arcade classic pong – and Unruly Splats will become our voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more.
